1-Day Group Joining Safari
Arusha NP, Lake Duluti, or Tarangire day trip. Daily departures. Ideal for post-Kilimanjaro and first-timers.
The complete Tanzania northern circuit — all four essential parks, expert licensed guide, and all park fees included — at the most accessible per-person price available for an overnight safari. Join a shared vehicle with fellow travellers from around the world. From a single wildlife day at $55 per person to the maximum 6-day four-park circuit with three Serengeti days at $1,070 per person. Tanzania wildlife at every budget.
Understanding the format
A group joining safari is a shared departure — you book individual seats in a 4x4 safari vehicle rather than the vehicle privately. The vehicle holds a maximum of 7 guests and all guests share the same itinerary and destination on that departure. We combine guests from different bookings to fill each vehicle for each departure date.
The key question most guests ask: what is actually different from a private safari? The wildlife experience is identical. The guide is the same expert licensed naturalist who leads private safaris. The vehicle is the same custom 4x4 with pop-up roof hatches. The park access and fees are identical. The accommodation standard is the same range used for private mid-range safaris. What changes: the vehicle is shared among up to 7 guests; the daily schedule is fixed rather than flexible; and the per-person cost is significantly lower because the vehicle cost is distributed across multiple guests.
For solo travellers, backpackers, budget-conscious families, post-Kilimanjaro guests, and anyone who wants to experience Tanzania's finest wildlife without the cost of a private vehicle, group joining is the correct choice. The social experience — sharing wildlife sightings with fellow travellers from around the world — is genuinely one of the things guests most frequently describe as a highlight of the trip.
Group joining safaris require a minimum of two confirmed joining guests per departure. Daily departures run for the 1-day Arusha National Park option. Multi-day itineraries run on confirmed-booking basis — we combine bookings to fill each departure and notify you of your confirmed date within 6 hours of booking.
Who chooses group joining
Group joining is not the compromise option. For these four traveller types, it is consistently the correct choice.
Solo travellers
No single supplement, no private vehicle cost, no need to find travel companions. Join from any Arusha or Moshi hotel and meet fellow travellers from around the world. The most popular safari format for solo travel in Tanzania.
Post-Kilimanjaro guests
The most popular post-climb addition. A 1-day Arusha National Park group joining safari is the ideal wildlife day for Kilimanjaro descenders resting in Arusha before a flight. No long commitment, available daily.

Budget-conscious guests
The same expert guide, the same parks, the same vehicle — at 35–55% of the private vehicle price per person. For guests who want the complete Tanzania wildlife experience without the private vehicle budget.

First-time safari guests
Arusha National Park on a group joining day is the ideal first Tanzania wildlife experience — compact, consistently rewarding, beautiful. A perfect introduction before a longer private circuit safari on a subsequent trip.

When to join
All four parks deliver excellent wildlife year-round. Seasonality affects Serengeti wildlife concentration and joining availability.
January – February
Calving Season — Ndutu
High seasonThe Great Migration calves in Ndutu and the southern Serengeti. Predator-prey concentration is the most intense of the year. An extraordinary time for the 4-day, 5-day, and 6-day joining circuits with Serengeti days.
March – May
Long Rains — Value Season
Best valueLowest joining rates, fewest guests, most dramatic landscapes. All four parks deliver excellent wildlife. Joining availability may be lower — we may need additional days to confirm departures. Excellent for Tarangire and Ngorongoro.
June – October
Dry Season — Mara Crossings
Peak seasonThe Mara River crossing season. The most popular time for the 5-day and 6-day joining safaris with multiple consecutive Serengeti days. Joining slots fill fast — book early. Tarangire elephant herds at their densest.
November – December
Short Rains — Good Season
Good seasonLight rains, green landscapes, good wildlife. Joining departures run regularly. Migration herds moving south toward the calving grounds — excellent Serengeti drives. Lower prices than peak season. A consistently excellent time to join.
Guest experiences
From solo travellers to post-Kilimanjaro guests — why group joining works.

"I was travelling solo on a budget and the 3-day group joining safari gave me Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and the Ngorongoro Crater — three completely different wildlife experiences — for $590. The group was six people from five countries. By Day 3 in the Crater we had become a genuinely close group. The guide was extraordinary. Nothing was missing except a vehicle to myself."
3-day joining · November
"I descended Kilimanjaro and had one day before my flight. The 1-day Arusha National Park group joining safari was perfect — pickup at 7 am, back by 6 pm, colobus monkeys directly above the vehicle, flamingo flocks on the Momella Lakes, giraffe herds on the moorland, and Mount Meru visible throughout. The guide's knowledge made it completely different from anything else I have done. An extraordinary final day."
1-day joining (Arusha NP) · Post-Kilimanjaro
"I chose the 6-day group joining for the three Serengeti days. On Day 6 — the third Serengeti day — the guide positioned us using two full days of accumulated intelligence at a location he had been staging toward since Day 4. A cheetah coalition was there at exactly the predicted position before sunrise. We watched a complete hunt. That encounter is not possible without three consecutive days. And at $1,070 for the complete 6-day circuit, the group joining format is genuinely extraordinary value."
6-day joining · August (crossing season)
"I upgraded from the 4-day to the 5-day joining specifically because I wanted two Serengeti days. The guide explained it perfectly before Day 5: Day 4 was exploration, Day 5 would be precision. He was right. On Day 5 he drove directly to a crossing point he had been monitoring all of Day 4. The herd committed within 90 minutes of sunrise. Watching 2,000 wildebeest in the water simultaneously from a vehicle that was positioned the night before — that is what two days delivers."
5-day joining · October
"The 1-day group joining Tarangire day trip is extremely long — we left Arusha before sunrise and returned after dark — but worth every minute. We saw a herd of over 300 elephants crossing the road in front of the vehicle. I have been on ten safaris in Africa. I have never seen anything like that. The guide identified individual elephants by ear shape. The group joining format put me with five extraordinary people. The whole day cost $140."
1-day Tarangire joining · July
"The 2-day group joining gave me Tarangire and the Ngorongoro Crater — two completely different parks — for $380. I was solo joining and shared the vehicle with a Danish couple and two German backpackers. We watched the black rhino mother with a calf in the Crater before 8 am. The guide's overnight network intelligence for the black rhino positioning was the difference — he knew exactly where to go before we even descended. Group joining is not a compromise. It is a different social format with the same wildlife experience."
