Safari Overview
Four Serengeti Days — The Complete Northern Circuit
The 7-day Tanzania Safari is the gold standard for the complete northern circuit — the most comprehensive version of the four-park Tanzania safari within a practical single-trip duration. With four consecutive Serengeti days, the complete northern circuit parks, and the Ngorongoro Crater covered in full, this is Tanzania's northern wildlife story told to its deepest conclusion.
Four days in the Serengeti delivers something qualitatively different from three. Day 1 is exploratory — establishing herd positions, crossing point activity, predator locations. Day 2 is precision — applying that intelligence from before dawn. Day 3 goes deeper — reaching areas and species that two days of positioning reveals. Day 4 achieves the highest possible intelligence-led positioning — four days of network communication, field observation, and accumulated knowledge applied in the most productive Serengeti drive of the entire safari. For guests during crossing season, four days at the Mara crossing points gives a genuinely high probability of multiple crossing events.
The surrounding circuit is equally complete: Tarangire receives a full afternoon arrival drive and a complete pre-dawn morning. Lake Manyara gets a full morning drive with tree-climbing lion positioning. The Ngorongoro Crater gets the complete dawn-to-afternoon day that this extraordinary location demands. Seven days covers everything essential, at full depth, without compression or compromise.
Each Serengeti day builds on the last. Day 1 maps the ecosystem — herd positions, crossing points, predator locations. Day 2 applies that map precisely. Day 3 reaches beyond it — deeper into the ecosystem, tracking specific individuals identified on Days 1 and 2. Day 4 is the deepest possible engagement — four days of accumulated intelligence, applied from the most precisely identified, highest-probability location available to the guide. The fourth Serengeti day is consistently the most productive of the entire circuit. It is why four days is the standard at which the migration becomes a genuinely deep understanding rather than an encounter.
During the crossing season (July–October), four consecutive days at the most active Mara River crossing points is the most reliably productive configuration available. The herd may hesitate at the crossing for two or three days before committing — four days means the guide is present for the entire build-up and the commitment. Four days also means two separate crossing events are genuinely possible, not just one. This is the itinerary for those who want not just to see a crossing, but to see multiple crossings across different parts of the river on different days.
The 7-day Tanzania Safari is the longest circuit safari that fits within a two-week Tanzania trip alongside a 7-day Kilimanjaro climb (7+7=14 days). A 7-day Machame climb plus the 7-day complete circuit safari runs exactly 14 days total — the most comprehensive Tanzania experience achievable within a standard two-week international holiday. Both depart from Moshi and share the same guide infrastructure. We offer combined pricing with reduced total cost for all Kilimanjaro and safari combinations.
